Lead generation guides for tradies and small businesses
These lead generation guides look at where Australian small businesses get enquiries, what each source costs and how to tell if it is paying. We stick to published prices and official rules, and we will not promise you a number of leads.

Want leads through things you own?
We build the website and run your ads in an account in your business name, so enquiries come only to you and the account stays yours. Tell us what you use now. If it is working, we will say so.
Common questions
What is lead generation for a small business?
Anything that turns people who do not know you yet into enquiries: your Google profile, your website, ads, directories and referrals. The number that matters is not the cost of a lead but the cost of a job won, so measure each source that way.
Is it better to use a lead platform or run my own ads?
A platform is quick to start, and you share each lead with other businesses. Your own site and ads take longer to set up, and the enquiry comes only to you. Many trades run both for a while and keep whichever costs less per job won. Our hipages review shows how to do the sum.
How fast should I follow up a new lead?
Meta’s own advice is that minimising the time it takes to follow up can improve lead quality. Reply within minutes where you can. If you cannot, speed-to-lead calls new enquiries typically within 60 seconds, inside Australian calling hours.
Can you promise a number of leads?
No, and nobody can. Results move with your offer, your market and the season, and the ACCC expects any forecast to rest on reasonable grounds.
Working out where work should come from?
